Colony Inn

We booked two rooms. One was okay, but the other smelled awful and had sticky carpet. Lysol didn’t make much difference to the smell. Don’t lift the sheets, the mattresses are filthy and look like they might have pee stains and cigarette burns. The location is convenient if you’re going to Universal.

The room became impossible to stay in after sewage water started coming up through the bathroom floor drain. The sink had already been draining slowly, and after we reported it the second evening, the management’s suggested fix led to this. The stench was unbearable. We’d arrived late the first night and had plans the next day, so there was no time to deal with it earlier. No other rooms were available, and at 1am we had to call around to find another hotel. The property manager was rude, belittling, and disrespectful, and wouldn’t give us a full refund for the night we had to spend elsewhere. The other employees were kind and understanding. The amenities are somewhat dated too. I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

A good low-cost choice for a short stay, with clean, simple rooms and polite staff who were accommodating. It’s near Universal Studios, and parking comes with the stay, which was a nice bonus.

We had a great stay. The room was nice and they were very accommodating. I just wish there’d been a coffee pot in the room.
