Economy Inn Hollywood

The check-in man was sweet, and the location worked well for a Valentine’s Day girls night out with my friends. Everything else was awful. The room smelled like cigarettes covered up with room spray, the walls and doors were dirty, and we saw six bugs. We were exhausted and wanted to sleep, but after seeing the sixth one we packed up and drove home at 3am. There were bugs in the fridge next to the food I’d put in there too. I had to throw away my $20 meal to be safe, which upset me. I called to ask for a refund, but the phone just rang and nobody picked up.

The beds were clean and comfortable, and the rooms look updated. There wasn’t a dresser, so our clothes ended up everywhere. We saw a couple of creepy crawlers, though not the bad kind. The shower was either extremely hot or ice cold, with no comfortable setting in between.

I’m posting this so other people traveling with service animals know what happened to us. My wife and I had come from Nashville, Tennessee, and checked into the Economy Inn in Hollywood on Christmas Eve. I got there early and waited about an hour to check in. For close to six hours, the manager saw me coming and going with my service animal and my wife’s service animal, who was at work, without any trouble. That evening, the manager was making noise on the balcony. I opened the door for a moment to see why, and the animals ran out, barked a few times, then came straight back to me. They weren’t aggressive, and it was over in seconds. Even though the manager had seen us with the animals all day, I was told to leave over that brief incident. It was especially hard being out of state on Christmas Eve.

There were cockroaches on the floor and by the bed, and the room was filthy, with grime and stains everywhere. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned in ages. Charging people for a room in that condition is a disgrace. Avoid it.
