I booked for May 15-17, 2026, and left about five minutes after arriving. The front door lock at unit 14835 B was broken and didn’t sit properly; inside, some paint was missing from the walls and there was an unpleasant smell from somewhere. After leaving to book another hotel, I asked Expedia for a refund. I was told it needed approval from a hotel manager. Shukai then asked for photos of the room, even though I’d already told them I’d left the area. I was shocked when I arrived and definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I cancelled and checked out the same day, without spending a single night, but they refunded only one of the twelve nights. I would’ve been fine paying for one day. I booked through Expedia and hadn’t realized the unit was shared with three other people, which they don’t make clear. The owner told me to seek the refund through Expedia, while Expedia said the owner could approve refunds. They just pass the blame around. The owner was extremely rude and unwilling to accommodate guests. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The bed was comfortable, at least. The shared kitchen and lounge were another matter: when I went to store my insulin, the refrigerator had no space at all. There was no TV in my room, and other tenants were using the TV, and although WiFi was available I wasn’t given its password. Getting in meant learning three six-digit codes, for the street gate, the unit, and my room. The gate was often unlocked, and one day the unit code actually locked me out. A mentally ill homeless man was living right outside the gate, and the toilet paper holder was coming out of the wall. I felt cheated.

We’d booked through Vrbo, but it wouldn’t let us leave a review there. This place was very clean, nice, safe, and affordable. Universal Studios was less than a 20 minute drive away. Ms. Sukhai Jiang was quick to respond and made the stay feel welcoming and safe. I can’t say enough good things about it, and we’ll book here for future trips to the area.
