The valet created my main headache. Even after check-in, the attendant wouldn’t give me a ticket for the car and said I could get one when we returned. That confused the next shift, who wanted to know why I had no ticket or the other part for the car. Sorting it out delayed us getting upstairs to change for our evening reservations. Checkout was easy, but I was disappointed to be charged for handicapped or active-duty military parking. Most California laws don’t enforce handicapped parking fees. The staff were nice, the location was great, and the beds were comfortable enough for one night, though I wouldn’t want them for several nights. There was a coffee maker and staff gave us K-cups, but it needed water and the only way to get bottled water was to pay for it. Complimentary coffee should be usable without charge. We could have used tap water, but these machines usually need filtered water to last.

The room was clean, the shower warm, and the bed only semi-comfortable. Staff were helpful, including the people working in the TGIFridays inside the hotel. There were lots of good places to eat within walking distance, and I didn’t see the homeless people others mentioned. Valet-only parking was odd. I think it was $55 a night, yet the car was parked just a few feet away, somewhere we could have parked ourselves for free. Even when we came down and could see the car right beside us, we still had to wait for the valet to retrieve it. I’m sure there’s a reason, but it felt strange. No major issues, and the couple of nights were nice.

The General Manager, Riley Wood, responded promptly after seeing my email and initial review. He took the complaint seriously, reviewed the lobby security footage, and said the employee’s unacceptable behavior had been addressed internally. Management also approved a one-night refund through Agoda for the missed housekeeping and poor service. I appreciate Riley’s quick, fair, professional response. It shows they care about guests, and good management makes a real difference. The original problem was that our room, 501, was skipped for housekeeping on Feb 21st. When I told the front desk the next morning, the woman working there was dismissive and rude, gave no apology, blamed the third-party booking platform, and snapped at me to “put it back” when I accidentally knocked a key card off the counter. It was an awful start to our morning in LA. That employee’s service was unacceptable, though I’m grateful the General Manager made things right.

Only one elevator was working, and the wait was often about ten minutes or even longer in the morning. The rooms were pretty small, and I had a hiccup with an extra charge for something that should have been free, though I understood. Still, I enjoyed the stay and had a good, not too bad experience. The TGI Fridays downstairs was decent. It was very busy with the World Series going on, but I still liked my time here. 3.9/5.
