Los Angeles Airport Marriott

We stayed here for the Doctor Who convention and plan to return next year for the same event. My daughter and I were on the ninth floor facing the pool and LAX, but somehow we never heard noise from the airport, pool, or hallway. The hotel is a little pricey, but worth it. Our room was basic, though the mattress and pillows were amazing. Housekeeping did a great job every day, and when we called maintenance about the fridge, someone arrived in less than five minutes and fixed it quickly. We enjoyed the stay and had no complaints. The restaurants and buffets were very expensive, but there are plenty of restaurants within a mile or less on foot.

There’s a pleasant staff, a nice pool, and a dependable shuttle, and the hotel is very close to the airport. My son enjoyed the 24-hour workout room. The room was spacious and the beds were good. We paid a few dollars extra for a pool view. Parking was a surprise. If you want to drive in and out with your car, expect about $80 a day. Long-term airport parking costs much less, but doesn’t let you come and go. One small room issue: the bathroom door doesn’t lock. It’s a design flaw, and a regular door would have been better.

The room was clean and had decent furnishings, but the guest experience felt substandard for a Marriott and Bonvoy stay. We arrived late from the airport shuttle with a mountain of bags and two small kids, and there was no bellhop, luggage cart, or any kind of help. The front desk seemed very disinterested. I tried not to judge too harshly since it was late. In the morning, the kids were getting restless, so we tried to order room service breakfast, which the website clearly advertised and was one reason we booked. An AI agent answered the phone, which was annoying, and once we got through to a person, we were told they had recently discontinued in-room breakfast delivery. Bonvoy membership also didn’t get me free internet. It entitled me to a $20 charge to get online. If you just need a bed, a roof, and overpriced Starbucks in the morning, I guess you could stay here, but you’d be overpaying. They seem to cut every corner for marginal savings. It’s basically a Motel 6 with a big lobby full of screens. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone except someone I have a grudge against.

The staff stood out most during my stay. Everyone, from valet and the front desk to housekeeping and the restaurants, was pleasant and professional. The room was comfortable and clean, though maybe not as new as other Marriott properties. I’d rate it 4 out of 5. The fitness room was another highlight, with cardio equipment, a couple of weight machines, two benches, and dumbbells up to 50 pounds. The hotel is handy for LAX and Manhattan Beach, which made it a nice spot for some R&R between meetings. I’d stay again if I’m back in LA.
