Motel 6 Gardena

The room itself was clean, and the staff were polite and accommodating. They let me check in early and even upgraded my room for convenience. Still, it was a rough night with constant traffic noise, and the location didn't feel safe. I had to sign a form saying they weren't responsible for theft, which was unsettling. Around 8pm at a nearby restaurant, I saw people stealing right in front of me, so the area is definitely unsafe. The room was missing basics: soap, handwash, water, coffee, lockers, and tissues. Even budget hotels usually provide those. It's the closest place I found near the hotel, but not really a good option for a family stay.

I told the front desk person twice to cancel my reservation because I was going to another Motel 6. He said it was canceled, but it wasn't, and I was charged $96. I had to call my bank and report it as a fraudulent charge before I got the money back. Someone who behaves like this shouldn't be working in a job where they can take money from people.

Update: Motel 6 Hollywood investigated and recovered the AirPods. I'm grateful they worked tirelessly to find them. The staff and manager I spoke with were friendly and wonderful, and their diligence means I'd recommend this location to anyone nearby now. Original review: The hotel was clean, nice, and in a great location, but I was completely sure staff had taken my son's AirPods. We were already an hour and a half away when he realized he'd left them behind. Their location showed them at the hotel, right where our room was. I called the front desk, and they said housekeeping would look and call back. A couple of minutes before that call came, the AirPods started moving down the street. Then they told me they hadn't found them in the room, even though the location had clearly shown they were there before housekeeping went up. They ended up at a specific address about half an hour from the hotel. Be careful here, don't leave valuables in your room, or at least take them when you go out.

I liked being placed at the front of the building, where I felt safe, and the staff were amazing. They saw I had family with me and let us check in a little early. The rooms are clean, with a small refrigerator, and there's a microwave and ice machine outside. A few stores are nearby, so it's a handy spot to check in and figure out your day.
