The hotel made a great impression on my first trip to LA, which was for work. Plaza La Reina Hotel is beautiful, with distinctive rooms and lots of ambience. The photos don’t really do it justice, and the location is great. The staff were wonderful and helpful, especially Hellen and Philippe. Our travel plans had a lot of moving pieces, and they were flexible and supportive. They also let us use a lovely outdoor space for a reception.

The building is beautiful, the room was spacious and set up like a studio apartment, and the property was quiet and peaceful. I especially liked the courtyard on my floor and its calming fountain. It works well for longer business trips or family travel. But if you’re expecting luxury, Plaza La Reina may disappoint. My room was very worn, with stains on the walls and furniture. The sofa was gross, the leather was peeling by the frame, and it badly needed replacing. I took photos to the front desk and was told they’d be passed to the manager, but nobody got back to me. That didn’t feel like a luxury hotel. There’s no gym on site. On the gorgeous rooftop there are two beat-up pieces of equipment and dumbbells. The treadmills looked filthy, dated, maybe from the 90s, and weren’t maintained. This place has potential, but it needs more consistent attention to detail and upkeep throughout.

It looks beautiful from the outside. I pass by every day, and once stopped with my Golden Doodle to take a picture. Security came out and treated me like I was homeless, telling me to leave, even though the steps are clearly on the public side. I took it as racial discrimination.

The location is excellent, especially if you’re Persian and care about being near Westwood. Parking was easy, and the staff were approachable and helpful. We loved the warm, clean, cozy building and the suite’s good-looking wooden furniture.

The one thing that made me uneasy was the ice machine. It’s tiny and tucked into a courtyard corner, with a big plastic scoop sitting right in the ice. I hope the owner replaces it with a newer machine that feels safer for everyone. My daughter and I had an amazing stay at Plaza Le Reina. It’s an older, gorgeous little hotel, from the entrance and lobby to the courtyard and guest rooms. Coffee and pastries are put out in the lobby each morning, and staff are happy to chat or answer questions. It’s not part of a big corporation, and you can feel the care in the details. They treated us like guests, not just a source of money. Our room was spacious, clean, and beautiful, with TVs, Keurigs, a full kitchen, and a mini-fridge with a real freezer. It was thoughtfully put together for the most part. There aren’t USB-C or USB-A ports, but there are plenty of outlets if you bring your own charging brick. Our room also didn’t have a peephole.
