Sahara Inn Los Angeles

The rooms have all been remodeled and look really nice, and the housekeeper is lovely. But the business treats the people who bring in its money very poorly. There’s no customer loyalty, just a quick buck at any expense. If you want a “lie key” experience, don’t come here. They’ll do everything they can to make you feel like your business doesn’t matter.

The room itself could have been in better shape, though at least the door didn’t look recently forced open. Being on the second floor made us feel safer. The place is heavily barricaded, with just one entrance. We even checked beneath the bed for bodies or rats and found nothing.

I traveled in from out of state by train and really needed somewhere to stay, but when I got there, the motel turned away me and two other parties, despite our advance reservations. The person there could barely speak English and couldn’t explain why our rooms weren’t available. He said some people stay night to night on a weekly basis, so maybe they get priority over online bookings, but I honestly don’t know. I had to scramble to find another hotel nearby, and this place nearly ruined my trip and could have left me on the street. Looking at other reviews afterward, maybe it was a blessing in disguise. People say the rooms are in poor condition, and I might have ended up with bed bug bites. Avoid this motel at all costs.

I’m grateful to have a room where I can shower and get some rest.
