SLS Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Beverly Hills

Recovering from surgery at the hotel, I felt the positive atmosphere helped my healing. Alex Bastovanov made the stay feel personal and thoughtful, welcoming me with a genuine smile, taking care of requests, and anticipating what I might need. The location also worked well for walking to Beverly Hills, La Cienaga Tennis Center, and a nearby hospital. There's a lovely pool, and the house car was useful for getting to a restaurant or doctor's appointment. The rooms and service impressed me, and the whole team was wonderful. I travel a lot and know what good service looks like. I was wowed by this place and its people.

My stay got off to a frustrating start after a 17-hour flight. My wife and young son couldn't check in with my passport while I was only a few minutes away. I understand security rules, but the front desk showed little flexibility or judgment. They also insisted on a physical credit card, despite my using Apple Pay exclusively for five years and never running into that requirement elsewhere. When I asked to see the terms supporting these rules, the Room Operations Manager was dismissive and repeatedly put off showing me the policy. I've traveled to more than 40 countries, including 13 in the past seven months, and haven't encountered a check-in handled this way, even in places with stricter regulations such as the UAE or Qatar. Starting the stay like that left me unable to give more than one star. I stayed at SLS Dubai before and had a completely different experience. As a frequent Marriott guest, I expect consistent service, professionalism, and some flexibility. I hope the hotel reviews its front desk procedures and training.

Kaylee made our anniversary trip feel personal and memorable. She pointed us to a fantastic restaurant that became one of the best parts of the visit, and her kindness and attention to detail really stood out. It was our first time in LA, and the staff made the whole stay feel special. The rooms are beautiful, the location is great, and the service was lovely. I'd happily come back.

The king suite was huge and worked perfectly for our family. We loved the rooftop deck, and breakfast was a treat, especially the avocado toast and shakshuka. They serve it until 1:30 PM, which is another nice perk. The welcome at check-in was warm, and LIVA made it even better. Everyone, from the valet to housekeeping, was terrific. Love really was sweeter the second time around, and this is now our first pick for an LA staycation.
