The rooms and facilities at Sofitel have been excellent on my several visits, and the staff are courteous and friendly. Enrique, one of the head valets, stood out when he welcomed me back as I pulled in. It had been at least six months since my last visit, and he still recognized me. He must see so many people drive in, so that really impressed me.

The staff were great, but the hotel itself feels dated for what it costs. The pool was closed, and no one mentioned that when I booked. I paid extra for a “hills view,” which didn't feel worthwhile. The window was very dirty, or perhaps there was a film on it, and the view looked blurry. There wasn't much of a hills view anyway. The TV was also old and couldn't stream, which was disappointing at this price.

The gym was excellent, the restaurant served great food, and the rooms were clean. The staff were lovely too. Two small things kept this from being a 10 for me: even though my shower head had been cleaned, the water flow was weak, which made washing my curly hair unpleasant. Also, the towels closet used for room service was right next to my door, and I could hear it opening and closing. Those issues were minor beside everything else, which was truly great. I'll plan to stay here again when I'm back in LA.

We liked our first three nights in early January 2026 so much that we added another three nights, moving to a different room. The first was a lovely one-bedroom suite with a nice view, walk-in wardrobe, and bath. Valet parking costs a lot, even more than in Hawaii, but Wally and the team were friendly and efficient. I hope to return to the Sofitel BH next time I'm in LA.

A wonderful security guard looked after us and hosted the whole night, keeping everyone together. He told me the rooms were phenomenal, and I couldn't believe it because he really didn't look like he was lying. It's been a beautiful hotel and an amazing night so far.
