Dinner for eight was a letdown: our server was hard to find and didn’t seem friendly, and I wondered if the included tip affected the service. Brunch with four of us was the opposite, with impeccable service, and the 5th-floor lounge was peaceful and beautifully designed. We loved getting coffee there, too. We were celebrating my daughter’s 25th birthday after her college graduation, so the missing purse by the fire pits was especially upsetting. The drinks were delicious, and the food was generally satisfying. The pool looked inviting, though I didn’t get to use it, and I wished there had been a jacuzzi. The rooms were spacious, elegant, and very comfortable, with fantastic amenities. I did find it odd that there was no top sheet. At check-in, the staff helped put our two rooms on the same floor, but one key didn’t work. I had to carry our suitcases back and forth to get it fixed, and I saw another guest have the same problem soon after. At checkout, they kindly held our bags so we could have brunch. Getting the car took much longer because the valet didn’t give us the customer part of the ticket. We were also charged twice for overnight parking. Even with those snags, the hotel’s charm and amenities made the stay memorable.

We chose the Aster partly for its lounge and rooftop, but on our first full day the hotel had booked all the public spaces for a Grammy-related event. We had to go elsewhere, and our plans around the city on later days meant we never got to enjoy those amenities. When we asked about it, the food credit we received covered one cocktail each. Guests should be told before booking if they’ll lose access to the hotel’s main features for a day or more. A meaningful room discount would also make sense, since a room without those benefits is much like staying at a less expensive nearby hotel. The suite was lovely, though our room faced Vine and was noisy. The wifi was easy to join without entering a room or name, but it signed out automatically after about 24 hours. Devices that need to stay connected for alerts, downloads, or work then went offline without warning, and had to be reconnected by pressing the connect button.

Brunch on our first day was delicious, both the food and drinks. My boyfriend surprised me with two nights in the cutest suite for Valentine’s Day, complete with a pink couch!!!! The bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable, and everyone on staff was friendly. The hotel felt really cool and safe. We only spent a little time at the rooftop bar because it was windy and a bit cold. Fabulous stay.

Param at the front desk was so kind and helpful with my questions on the last day. After checkout, he stored my luggage so I could go for a short hike, return for a quick shower, and then head to the airport. I was at the Aster for work, and it surpassed what I expected. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated, and the employees gave great service. I didn’t have time to try the gym or pool, but both looked very nice. I also really liked the on-site coffee shop and the yoga class available to hotel guests and members.

The in-room dining was fantastic, and the staff were friendly. I was at the Aster on a work trip and was glad to find this gem. The rooms are large and well equipped, especially at this price. I didn’t get a chance to eat in the restaurant, bar, or lounge, but I’ll come back.
