Whisky Hotel

The hotel has a great location and a distinctive, stylish design, but the service and guest support need work. The shower stayed lukewarm, and the showerhead wasn't working properly. We reported it, but nothing was fixed during our stay. Parking was another hassle: guests had to use the hotel's valet at $40 a night, which felt unnecessary since I prefer parking and using my own car. On our second morning the valet had lost my Tesla key card, so I had to pay $70 for a replacement. At checkout, the front desk associate couldn't offer a credit or other compensation and said management wasn't available. I was told to contact them later, which was disappointing under the circumstances.

The valet was the one letdown. I paid for the service, but had to self-park on two of my three days there, even though the valet staff were nice and professional. I expected it to be available consistently at that price. Still, I had a fantastic three-day, two-night stay at the Whisky Hotel in LA and would absolutely recommend it. The staff were welcoming, the location made exploring LA easy, and the strong air conditioning was a lifesaver. My clean, spacious room had a great bathroom and felt like a retreat. The rooftop restaurant and lounge was the highlight, with a lovely atmosphere and breathtaking views, including the Hollywood sign. Despite the parking inconvenience, I'd happily return.

The hotel looks stylish and is well placed for visiting Hollywood Boulevard, but I don't see us returning. Breakfast was a letdown: stale pastries, poor bread, and no vegan alternatives for butter or anything else. Fresh fruit and almond milk were the saving graces, and after trying it once we ate breakfast elsewhere. The room also wasn't practical, with little storage and no mirror outside the bathroom. The safe was just a drawer labeled "safe" with no lock. Room service often forgot to leave fresh coffee pods and supplied paper cups instead of crockery. After service, my partner's glasses had been knocked under the mattress. Luckily we found them unbroken.

Whisky Hotel Hollywood has a calm feel despite being close to restaurants, nightlife, and the main Hollywood sights. The style is modern and Hollywood without going overboard, and the rooms are spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully put together. For a boutique hotel with personality, good comfort, and excellent service in the heart of Hollywood, it's a great choice. I'd definitely stay again.
