We planned to stay two nights at Bourbon Barrel Inn Bed & Breakfast, then added two more because we loved it so much. The hospitality, accommodations, food, and new friendship all made it hard to leave. Rich & Brian have thought of so many details: spotless rooms, beautiful decor and linens, a lovely en-suite bathroom, slippers by the bed, pillow choices, shower steamers, and essentials in case you forgot yours. There were homemade jams and breads, breakfast made to order, appetizers at the evening social hour, and baked desserts each night. From the kind welcome when we walked in, the place felt right. Rich & Brian work hard to make you feel at home. We really felt their motto, “Arrive as guest but leave as family”. We can’t wait to come back!

The rooms are comfortable and inviting, and breakfast and the homemade treats were just right, especially the jams. My husband and I also loved the “evening post” social time, where we got to know Brian and Rich and hear about the history of the house. Bourbon Barrel is the best bed and breakfast I’ve ever stayed in. Brian and Rich have made it feel warm, relaxing, and welcoming. You can tell they’ve put thought into every detail to give their guests a five star experience. We were sorry our visit was so short, but can’t wait to return.

The back deck was a great place to unwind after exploring, and the location made it easy to get to shops, restaurants, and local attractions by car. We also enjoyed stopping in for happy hour with Rich and Brian. We booked Bourbon Barrel Bed and Breakfast for our seventh wedding anniversary and loved it from beginning to end. Rich and Brian welcomed us warmly and kept checking that we had everything we needed. It felt like home, and by the end we felt like family. Our room was spotless and cozy, with lots of thought put into it. Breakfast was delicious and generous, and I highly recommend the French toast with bourbon infused whipped cream. We made wonderful memories and friends we’ll think of as family for life. We didn’t want to leave and are already talking about coming back. I’d recommend it to anyone after a comfortable, homey getaway with lovely hosts.

After long days on the Bourbon Trail, coming back to the inn felt like coming home. There were appetizers and cocktails each evening, and Brian makes a phenomenal Old Fashioned. His secret bitters blend blew me away. The nightly sweets were also hard to resist: mini cheesecakes, cookies, gluten-free brownies, and my favorite, bourbon-infused chocolates with a light, fluffy center, dark chocolate coating, and pecan on top. I’m not sure my waistline could have handled a longer stay. Breakfast was a feast. We had toast and butter with homemade jams, and the cherry and bourbon jam was so good I kept going back for more. Coffee, tea, and fresh lemon came before the main dishes. I’m usually not an egg person, but Ilaria enjoyed her Eggs Florentine while I tried biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were soft and pillowy, browned underneath, and covered in rich, peppery sausage gravy. I liked them so much I ordered the same thing again the next morning. The room on the third floor was elegant, spacious, and welcoming, with luxurious linens, several places to sit, and restored wooden floors. There was also a table of homemade snacks on the way up. The house has been carefully renovated while keeping the character and architectural details of the original building. We’ve stayed in some wonderful places and plan our road trips carefully, so our expectations for the Bourbon Barrel Inn in Louisville, Kentucky, were already high. Brian and Richard surpassed them. Communication was warm, helpful, and thoughtful, and they greeted us at the door with a smile and even helped with our luggage. In a time of lockboxes and remote check-ins, that personal welcome stood out. They really live the hospitality they promise. To Brian and Richard, thank you for making us feel at home. We arrived as guests and left feeling like family. We can’t wait to return and see our US family again.

Rich and Brian’s kindness and genuine hospitality made us feel so welcome. We came as strangers and left as family and lifelong friends. The house is full of charm and warmth, with lovely attention to detail. The rooms were spotless, well kept, and comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding, full of care and flavor. Try the cherry bourbon jam with fresh baked bread, and grab a fresh baked treat in the hall on your way to the room. I’ll be craving that jam for days! Everything, from the welcoming atmosphere to the food, made this an unforgettable stay. The inn is just minutes from distilleries, restaurants, and fabulous museums. Highly recommend!
