The owners are friendly, check-in was easy, the building felt safe, and the location is very walkable. But I was disappointed with our choice of suite. We were deciding between Hotel Genevieve and Stellar Suites for a trip to NuLu. We saw several other rooms while they were being cleaned and wished we’d picked one of those instead of suite 7 Studio King. Ours felt dark, worn, and dirty, with nowhere comfortable to spend time. The shared area was also gloomy and had no natural light. The bed and couch were comfortable, but that’s about all I liked in the room. The sink had very little hot water and low pressure, and the bathroom fan was incredibly loud. There were no free snacks, only items for purchase, and none of the amenities I’d expect from a hotel or usually get at an Airbnb. For what it cost, I’d have been better off in a hotel. Parking was difficult. Free street parking was available if you could find a space, but we often had to circle for a while and then walk. We also paid $25 to check in early.

This is a fully self-service place with keypad codes and no front desk, so you’re mostly on your own. If you want staff on site or extra security, keep that in mind. I was traveling alone, and the area felt a little sketchy, especially at night. There was no deadbolt, which made me uncomfortable. I used some of the yoga props in the room to brace the door, something I’ve never had to do before. I eventually found somewhere else and gave up my second night. The room was cute and thoughtfully put together, with a comfortable bed, a beautiful bathroom, and snacks for purchase. The shower pressure, though, was barely more than a trickle. There’s also a bike room with mountain bikes guests can borrow, which is a cool idea, though I wasn’t sure where people would actually ride them in the downtown area. Just something to consider based on your comfort level and travel style.

Our suite was quiet even though it’s on Market Street, and the beds were comfortable. It had everything we needed and more. Stellar Suites is right in the heart of Nulu, with lots of dinner spots nearby, plus three microbreweries and two distilleries within walking distance. We’ll stay there again when we come back for the Bourbon Trail.

Louisville worked well for our sister’s weekend since we were all coming from out of town, and Stellar Suites was perfectly placed in NuLu. We could easily walk to restaurants, bars, and shops. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet. They had snacks and drinks for sale at reasonable prices, which was really convenient. We had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back.

Stellar Suites made a perfect base for our extended weekend in Louisville, a Christmas gift we’d given each other. The area felt clean, with lots of places to eat, drink, and shop. The owners communicated wonderfully. There’s no staffed check-in, just coded keypad entry for the building and suite. The atmosphere and decor were lovely, especially the common area and Double Rainbow selfie spot. Our suite was spacious, clean, and well equipped, with comfy bedding and linens. The kitchenette was handy, and we kept food around for light breakfasts and lunches. We really enjoyed the stay and hope to return to Louisville.
