Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Lubbock South by IHG

The breakfast was tasty, and the woman serving it was kind and kept the trays full. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed and pillows, and I slept through the night despite being on the first floor. My husband and I were only in town for a nearby conference, staying one night. The towels seemed old and weren't as soft as I expected. I'd come back.

It was all awful, and I'm not coming back. The coffee maker was broken, the remote needed batteries, and I couldn't find the attendant for over an hour. Our card keys didn't work either, so we had to return to the front desk. When the attendant did show up, she was robotic and made it clear she didn't care.

The coffee maker and breakfast were the only positives. The first floor reeked of sewage, there were no towels at the pool, and the side entrance door didn't work. When I asked for an iron and ironing board, I was told there weren't any on the property. The front desk staff acted as if I was the problem for asking for help, and the phones were unplugged, maybe to stop guests from calling the desk. The photos don't match the rooms. None seemed maintained: bathroom ceilings were damaged and shower tiles were coming apart. This was an absolute garbage stay.

Both rooms were super clean, and service was fantastic even though I checked in very late each time. I stopped here on the way from Houston to New Mexico and again on the way back. I left my pillow behind on the first trip, and they kept it for me until I returned. Great value. The one thing I didn't like was someone knocking despite my DND sign to ask whether I'd be checking out at noon. I'd driven all night and wanted extra sleep before another eight-hour drive. I get asking after noon, but I checked out at 11:55.
