That shower made my stay stressful. After a 15-mile hike in the heat, I came back the next afternoon and it still flooded almost right away. By the end I was standing in more than two inches of water, so I rushed through and hated having to stand in dirty water on vacation. I’d messaged the lodge owners after the first night, when the shower barely drained and took over 15 minutes to empty after I got out. They said they’d check it the next day. I was out until late afternoon, so I can’t say whether they looked, but the problem clearly wasn’t fixed. The rest of the stay had some real positives. The lodge is in a beautiful, quiet spot, and my favorite thing was seeing the Salmon River from my balcony. Check-in instructions by text were clear, my room was spotless, and the bed was comfortable. The shared kitchen was nice, and I appreciated the full-size fridge with its separate freezer, though the kitchen, especially the fridge, needed a deep clean.

We’ve been back a couple of times and loved each visit. It’s such a special place by the river, quiet and peaceful, just right for relaxing and feeling refreshed. The rooms have been clean and comfortable, check-in was easy and flexible, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It’s dog-friendly too, with beautiful surroundings. We really recommend it!

There are plenty of nice spots nearby for swimming, rafting, paddleboarding, and more, and Tara & Jake know the area well and have lots of ideas for things to do. The rooms are updated and pleasant, with a beautiful river view. You can use the on-site grill, kitchen, and fresh herbs and veggies, or find good places to eat within 10-15 minutes in either direction. I had a wonderful one-night stay, and I’ll be back!

We had a great time at The Steelhead Lodge. The river views from the rooms are gorgeous, and the recent remodel made them really cute. We also enjoyed the “Back Eddie” with its free snacks and drinks, plus the gazebo, BBQ, and corn hole. The proprietor let us take as many cherries as we wanted from the loaded cherry trees, and they were delicious. We could also pick from the herb and veggie gardens for dinner, which was so fun. The location worked well for white water rafting, jet boating in the rapids, and antiquing. Riggins is cute too, and the lodge is definitely worth a visit.

Watching wild horses, deer, and turkeys at sunrise with coffee on the deck was incredibly peaceful. Steelhead Lodge sits among the mountains right beside a river, and the setting gave me the quiet I wanted as a single mom about to send my second child off to college. I needed some self-care and space to reset for this new chapter, and being there let me reflect, recharge, and reconnect with nature. There’s a full kitchen for making your own meals, a gazebo with a barbecue, and outdoor games if you bring kids. It works for a solo trip, a couple, or a family, whether you want to unwind or head out for nearby whitewater rafting. It was more than just a place to sleep for me, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a reset or a beautiful place to stay.
