Being able to ski in and out was the best part. The place was large enough for our family of six, and the Solitude lift runs in early season, serving some of the mountain’s more challenging and fun trails. It was practically a ghost town, so there was no wait for the lift even on the weekend. Not having to fight for parking or take a shuttle was great too. Okemo was a lot of fun for everyone. Almost $1,300 for two nights was a bit expensive, though skiing with a family isn’t cheap. I’m not sure I’d stay at Solitude again, but I can’t dismiss it completely. This is a contracted housing complex, and if you book a condo for ski season, check-in is at Jackson Gore resort. I booked through American Airlines (Rocket Travel), but none of the messages mentioned that. The community building was dark and locked when we arrived, so there was nowhere to check in. American Airlines travel left me on hold for 30 minutes and couldn’t help because they didn’t know who to contact. Eventually I called the (annoyed) condo association executive director, who told us to go to Jackson Gore. Some facilities weren’t available as advertised. We never got access to the gym or hot tub, though at checkout we were told we could have asked for a key card. That was too late. The condo also lacked basic things like matches for the fireplace, coffee maker filters, and batteries for the TV remote. There was no turn down service either, though again they said we could have requested it at checkout. We had to shovel the walk to the entrance ourselves the night we arrived, and the beds were very hard.

We loved how easy the ski in and out access was. There was tons of shelf space, ski closets, huge mud rooms, and a heater for boots. The kitchen was well equipped and all the appliances worked perfectly. It was the cleanest place we’ve stayed on a mountain or ski vacation. The only thing I’d replace is the TV in our unit.

Really cozy and beautiful, right by the mountain. Just keep in mind that ski in, ski out still involves some walking.

A great spot in the Okemo Mountain ski resort area.

There’s a great cafe at the base of Solitude lift.
