La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Lufkin

We booked two nights for a wedding, but the place didn't feel clean, and I wouldn't stay again. There was no room service, the hair dryer didn't work, and the tub and curtain were stained. The floors felt sticky and slick, and the TV remote only worked from certain positions.

My wife had to wait more than 15 minutes at 9 p.m. because nobody was at the front desk. When someone finally came, she confirmed that the room we'd reserved was ADA accessible. It wasn't: there were no bathroom rails, and I couldn't get my chair into the toilet area. The beds were full size, not queen, and one had sheets with squashed flies on them. My wife said the bathtub was filthy. Half the lights and outlets didn't work, and the room phone was disconnected. There was trash all over the parking lot. It was disgusting, and I will never stay there again or recommend this location. It took ten separate calls to reach the front desk when I was making the reservation. I'd asked whether they had an accessible room with handrails in the bathroom, and the woman said there was one with two queen beds. The man at check-in also said the room we had booked was accessible. If I could give zero stars, I would.

The room was nice and clean, with no problems during our stay. Breakfast was the usual continental spread, though the waffle batter was thin and wasn't cooking right. I told the woman at the service desk, and she promptly replaced it with a fresh batch. We'll stay again when we're visiting.

We were very unhappy with our one-night stay. Both rooms smelled strongly of chemicals, and the bedding didn't seem fresh; the pillows smelled, too. One of the rooms had roaches.
