Days Inn by Wyndham Lugoff

I had to switch rooms because the heat wasn't working, and there was no maintenance person on duty. The shower only got lukewarm, too. On top of that, they took a $50 retainer and said it would be returned in the morning. When I still hadn't received it five days later, I called and was told they hadn't even sent it. The woman who answered was helpful and said she sent it back, but I don't expect to see the money. The room was like a third world motel room for $140, and the way they handled the deposit felt like a scam. I've stayed in worse places, but this is incredibly wrong. Definitely don't stay here.

The room was at least somewhere to sleep, but it smelled odd, the floor had water damage and was peeling, and it didn't seem maintained. Their “continental breakfast” was appalling: coffee, hot water, orange juice, and packaged Danish and waffles. I wouldn't choose this hotel again.

The front desk man was patient, kind, and helpful, and check-in went smoothly. I was in town with my toddler son to visit his family, so a clean room mattered a lot. I looked carefully, including at the fairly used-looking mattress, and didn't see any bugs during our two days there. The AC worked great and the other guests were quiet and peaceful. I was very pleased with the stay and would come back.

The beds were small, more kid-sized, and the pool looked much bigger in the picture than it really was. There were roaches in our room, and the next morning the breakfast area had no food, even though they'd said breakfast was free. When I called ahead, they told me I could pay with cash and card, but once I arrived they said I couldn't. One employee was really rude too. He hung up in the middle of our conversation while I was trying to get my words out despite my cluttered speech.
