Our server, Lorna, knew the menu well and was happy to suggest dishes. Lunch was delicious, with plenty of good choices even though the menu wasn’t huge. We had a lovely view of the Delaware River from our table. The Historic Bass Hotel is a really cool building, with several dining rooms and some guest rooms too. Getting there along the river through the small villages is scenic, so make time to visit.

We’ve been coming to the Black Bass for years, so dinner in the bar last night was a real letdown. After our appetizer, the waitress forgot to put in the rest of our order, and when the food arrived, it was wrong. We’d ordered the lamb dinner, but she brought out the lamb appetizer, which looked disgusting. She later stopped by to refill my wine and offer another beer, but by then the evening was already ruined. She seemed more focused on other patrons than on our meal. Not professional, and I work in the food industry.

We’d driven past the Black Bass for years on the way to New Hope and never stopped. I’m glad we finally did. My wife and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary there tonight, and we were blown away. Becky, our server, was warm and welcoming, as were the manager and the rest of the staff. The food was spectacular. We’ll be back.

The Baxter Suite gave us the privacy and room of an Airbnb with the amenities of a luxury hotel. We booked the night before our special occasion weekend in New Hope and were lucky to get it. It’s beside the main building, so our pup Murray could come along. The beautiful fixtures, deep tub in the marble bathroom, and one of the comfiest beds we’ve slept in made it a great stay. Out back there’s grass for Murray, plus a poop bag dispenser and trash. Magical. Terry made the last-minute arrangements feel easy, as if she’d known us for years. When we found out the restaurant had no tables left, I called her and she’d saved a special one for us, with the best view over the river in the main dining room. We were getting in just before the kitchen closed on Friday, so we called ahead and Terry had them prepare a takeout order for us to eat in the suite after the drive. The next night’s dinner was mouth-wateringly great. The Charleston Meeting Street Crab is their signature for a reason, and the scallops and beet salad were phenomenal too. The restaurant was already on my radar as a foodie destination in Bucks County. After I’d booked, an acquaintance in town told me the Black Bass is a special occasion return stay for her and her husband, and that she keeps it a tight secret. She was excited for us to try it, and I’m glad we did. We’re already thinking about when we can come back. Justin and Hannah

We’d heard lovely things about this place from family and friends and hoped for a fantastic lunch, but the staff’s coldness got in the way. The restaurant was otherwise almost empty, with only two tables occupied, so when I arrived I asked the host if we could have a window table for a nicer view. The host declined, citing the day and time I’d made the reservation. Once we were seated, the waitress responded to a question with a rather passive-aggressive attitude. After sitting for ten minutes without ordering, we decided to leave because some of the staff continued to be cold.
