Luray Caverns Motels

The view is nice, it’s close to Luray Caverns, and the front desk staff were friendly. That’s about where the positives end for me. There were mouse droppings and spiderwebs all over the rooms. We booked two adjoining rooms and were told our key would open the connecting doors, but it didn’t, so we had to get a master key. A phone blinked red all night because of an old voicemail, and both rooms had a loud fan running constantly. I was disappointed and definitely won’t return.

The carpet and the rest of the room were clean, and the staff were great and easy to deal with. The motel is also very close to the caverns, the Singing Tower, and the golf course. The rooms have a vintage 50s look that brings on instant nostalgia for old America. A few improvements, like pressure washing the balconies and some construction work to make things look cleaner, would make the stay more pleasant. Still, it was a great place to spend the night. The TVs aren’t very clear, but we weren’t there to watch TV. We’ll be back.

The room was clean and had an amazing view of the mountains. There was no hot water when we showered, which was my only complaint. Even so, it’s a great hotel for a really affordable price, and I’d still recommend it.

For a motel, it was pretty average, but a few things bothered me. The toilet sat so low that getting on and off it felt like being almost on your knees. The air conditioner kept switching off during the night, running for just a few minutes, then staying off for about 35 minutes. It seemed to be on a timer and set at 74. That might have been fine, except it was 87 degrees and intolerable. We were also arriving later than expected and wanted to call so they wouldn’t cancel our reservation, but neither we nor Google could find a phone number. The front desk confirmed the motel itself had no phone service.
