Red Roof Inn Syracuse

We’re not staying overnight, and after this visit I think I’d rather sleep in the car. I brought a 95-year-old man here to shower, but the shower was falling apart. It worked, barely. His daughter usually has him over, but she’s out of town and paid for a motel. I expected somewhere warmer and more comfortable. The heat was at 66°F, and after an hour and a half it had only reached 69°F, not good for someone his age with poor circulation. There was also a high-pitched squeal, though thankfully his hearing isn’t good enough for it to bother him as much. At the counter, the guy said he could only take cash because the card reader was down. They happen to have an ATM, which felt awfully convenient. I suspected the cash might never reach the motel. Then, when pressed, he said he could do it on the computer after all. Very sketchy. This place is only marginally better than being homeless. What a dump. If I had all day, I’d write a short diatribe. We should’ve gone to Planet Fitness.

The bathroom wasn’t very clean, and there was mold on the shower curtain. The room smelled like cat pee as soon as I walked in. Wouldn’t recommend it.

There was a fridge and microwave, but no coffee in the room or lobby. The room itself was clean, though clearly very well used. It’s the kind of basic place where you arrive late, sleep, then get up and leave early. Fine if you’re traveling and just need somewhere to sleep, but I wouldn’t suggest it for a family vacation.

We got a room after pulling in to book, but when we came back from heading out for supper, the door handle came off in my hand. We had to go back and switch rooms. The replacement room was missing its top lock completely. We asked for an extra pillow because the ones there were paper thin, but were told there were no pillows available. I will NOT be back, and I’ll tell anyone I know not to come.
