Colonnade Inn

We stay in hotels a lot because my husband works on wind turbines across the country, so the different prices here each week surprised us. This is the first motel or hotel we've stayed at that does that. I have PTSD and trained medical service dogs who wake me after an episode. The staff member said PTSD made them emotional support dogs rather than real service dogs, and gave us a lower rate only once. She also asked about papers. I have ID cards, but chose not to get vests for the dogs. When my husband is home, he looks after me because he has thumbs and can call someone if needed, so I don't need them with me all the time. I don't know what she was talking about.

It's in a central spot near restaurants, nice shops, and beautiful views, and it was by far the least expensive place around. We were able to check in about an hour early, which was kind of them. Still, I won't be back. The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, especially the pillows. I brought my own, luckily, because I couldn't have slept otherwise. The beds were hard, though the sheets were clean. The toilet rim was dirty; it had been cleaned, just not very well. Since we were on the ground floor and the door had no deadbolt, I put a chair in front of it before bed. If low cost is what you're after, this place may do the job.

We were given a room advertised as non-smoking, but it reeked of smoke and had clearly been smoked in for years. The carpet felt sticky underfoot, probably from cigarette tar, and the room seemed not to have had a deep clean or new carpet in decades. We nearly slept in the car during our one-night stay. Never coming back.

The rooms were really, really clean, and the owners and staff were super nice. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're traveling and want a quality place at a good price. Hope people consider it.
