Holiday Inn Express & Suites Seattle North - Lynnwood by IHG

I've stayed here many times and usually enjoy it. I was visiting on vacation and to study, as I often do, sometimes twice a month over several months. This time I spent nine nights and got room service only three times. The last two came after I asked why it hadn't been done. I'm not sure if the policy changed. I only saw a notice about Sundays, saying there'd be no service that day but we could request things at the desk. The morning of 11.13.2025, I asked the front desk employee about the missed service. It was my first time seeing her. She was dismissive and didn't apologize, just said I'd get service that day and that a sign in the elevator said there'd be no service Sunday through Wednesday. I never saw that sign, and four days without room service seems odd. Housekeepers were cleaning other rooms on my floor every day, while mine was missed. I asked why guests weren't told at check-in if the policy had changed, and she repeated that I'd get service that day before going back to her computer. That interaction has made me question coming back. I'd had dirty towels on the bathroom floor for days, and an apology would've gone a long way. I felt like I was bothering her, or wasn't allowed to ask about service I hadn't received. The other front desk women have been very pleasant and professional, especially the young woman who usually checks me in. Until this visit, I'd always enjoyed staying here. Sometimes “I apologize” can ease a bad experience or misunderstanding.

We felt shortchanged on the suite we paid for. Its entertainment center and TV were missing, and the elevators were slow and downright sketchy. The hot tub shown in the advertising isn't there, either. It's been boarded over and covered with a deck, so we kept our swimsuits packed and were sad to miss it. The location was good, the beds were reasonably comfortable, and breakfast was decent for the price. The coffee machine was neat and made fresh, drip coffee one cup at a time.

The room felt stale and had a bad smell by the entrance. We chose the hotel partly because it advertised a hot tub, but when we arrived they told us there wasn't one. There was an area by the pool where it used to be, now covered with plastic and wood decking. Disappointing. The description should say NO HOT TUB. We'll see how breakfast is tomorrow morning.

The room was comfortable and clean, and the service from check-in through check-out was outstanding. One of the front desk women even helped me figure out and fix a phone setting I'd accidentally changed. It was my first time visiting Washington, and the location made it easy to get to the places I wanted to see without Seattle traffic. Downtown Seattle and the whale-watching ports were an easy drive, with restaurants and stores nearby. I'd stay again if I'm in the Seattle area. Thanks for making my first visit great.
