Star Motel

I left and am currently relaxing at another hotel. At least I'll get breakfast there, and won't have to deal with the mold smell. My downstairs room smelled moldy, the bathroom ceiling had mold, and the shower curtain rods were rusty. There was no ice, coffee, or breakfast. The beds were comfortable, but the man wasn't nice to me and actually scared me.

It might look like a sketchy motel from the road, but inside it was surprisingly nice. My room was clean, with a mini fridge, decent size TV, and wifi. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were excellent. Towels were terribly thin, though, and the outlets weren't in convenient spots. The staff were great. I stayed Sunday to Monday and paid $55 a night after tax. For the prices at the other hotels on this block, you'd be throwing money away by staying elsewhere. I'd stay again if I'm in town.

The Star Motel is an older property, but it's in excellent condition and close to local businesses and restaurants. The room was clean and affordable. I called two days before my family's trip to Macomb, and Ken the owner was pleasant and helpful. Booking was easy, and I was able to tell him when we'd check in. I'd save time and money and book here instead of the sold out Hampton next door at $200 a night.

The rate was good, the bed comfortable, and the room had what I needed. It was clean, and the staff were friendly, professional, and happy to answer questions. I was pleasantly surprised by how much better the stay was than I'd expected, and I'd come back. I just wish the bed had a real cover. There was a sheet and a fancy top cover, but that one was for looks and useless to actually cover up with. For the price, though, it was an above average stay.
