1842 Inn

It felt like home here, which I haven’t felt in a hotel for a long time. The staff were so welcoming, everything was super clean, and breakfast was amazing. What a wonderful place to stay. Ten stars!

The reception on the wraparound porch and dancing under the tent in the back made the wedding at 1842 Inn feel like a Secret Garden. The bride wanted an elegant celebration tucked away in a garden, and the venue delivered. Every detail was handled beautifully, especially the grand entrance, which I won’t forget. For Middle Georgia brides hoping for a historic, storybook setting, this place brings Southern charm and exceptional service.

The house itself is beautiful, and our room had lovely period furnishings and a comfortable mattress. But we couldn’t really enjoy the place. A group event was underway the week before Christmas, and people unloading for it blocked the narrow side street by check-in. We circled and called, but were told to park farther away and carry our bags instead of being allowed to unload. The group had the whole first floor and was playing hip-hop, so we never got to sit for a drink or look around the house. After breakfast in our room the next morning, I got violently ill with what seemed like food poisoning and had to stop at a gas station on the way to Savannah. Maybe it’s a nice place under different circumstances, but nobody warned us about the event, and the response to how it affected us felt indifferent. I wouldn’t return.

I was there to do hair and makeup for a wedding, with the bridal party staying at the inn. The staff were wonderful, kind, and quick to help with my heavy equipment. They kept checking that everyone had what they needed, and the rooms were clean and well maintained. Highly recommend!
