The beds were okay and the bathroom was alright, but the building seemed rusty and run down. The breakfast room smelled strange, the water pressure was too strong, and we paid much more than the room was worth because of demand. I also definitely saw a cockroach just outside. We checked in a few hours early and were told there’d be a $15 fee for the inconvenience, which I understood. After we agreed to pay, the man said, “Actually it’s $20,” which I didn’t get. The pool was empty, closed, and full of nasty dirt and buildup. It might be okay if you’re not too picky, but I don’t think I could stay here again.

The front desk was very nice and helpful, and they moved us between rooms until we found one we could manage. The first room was on the third floor. It was literally 98 degrees outside, the room was blazing hot with no air conditioning, and the air didn’t work. It was disgusting, too. The second smelled like dead rats, had something nasty running down the walls, and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. There was also a huge pile of dirty clothes and shoes right outside the door that we had to kick out of the way. The third room was clean and livable, though kind of run down and without toilet paper. At least the front desk staff were very friendly and moved us.

The room surprised us in a good way, especially after reading some of the Expedia reviews. It looked like it may have been renovated recently, with modern, new-looking sheets, curtains, and carpet. The beds weren’t super soft, but we slept like babies. The exterior looked pretty run down, and the place was missing some little touches you’d get at a nicer hotel. There was no in-room coffee machine, the small towels were low quality, and the pool seemed permanently closed when we visited in August. Breakfast was only coffee, juice, a waffle maker, and two cereals with milk. For the price, it wasn’t as bad as other reviews made it sound, but don’t set your expectations too high.

I chose this hotel because I wanted a pool and breakfast for the three kids with me, but the pool wasn’t filled and the dining area looked terrible. We felt dirty in the rooms and kept our shoes on the whole time. I checked the beds for bed bugs, too. Our bathroom had just two rags and two towels. When I asked for more, it took 20 minutes to get two additional towels. I was incredibly disappointed.
