Holiday Inn Express & Suites Macon - I-475 By IHG

We arrived late after struggling to find any available room because so many hotels were sold out. The lobby’s strong body odor smell was overwhelming and immediately concerning. We were assigned Room 220, but when my husband opened the door, someone was already inside. That’s unacceptable and a serious safety issue. On the way downstairs, another guest told me the same thing had happened to her in her assigned room. I told my husband I didn’t feel safe staying there. He took our luggage back to the car while I asked the front desk to confirm we wouldn’t be charged. The employee said a manager was needed, then said none was available. When I calmly asked for a receipt or written confirmation that we wouldn’t be charged, she raised her voice, got defensive, and said she was “trying to be professional,” though she clearly wasn’t. Later, my husband spoke with a manager by phone, who assured us the reservation was canceled and there’d be no charge. We checked our account the next morning and had been charged anyway. This hotel failed on cleanliness, guest safety, professionalism, and honesty. Giving out occupied rooms, with multiple guests reporting the same problem, then charging us after promising not to, is unacceptable. I’d strongly advise others to stay somewhere else.

Ashley made check-in easy by answering all our questions and making sure we had what we needed. She was upbeat, friendly from the moment we arrived, and genuinely helpful at the front desk. That kind of customer service makes a difference, and we’d absolutely stay at Holiday Inn Express again.

I spent 10 days here with my family, and the staff made us feel at home. Everyone was helpful and flexible, from the front desk to getting things fixed in the room. The breakfast was better than any hotel breakfast, trust me. General Manager ADRIAN OROZCO is the most humble person you’ll find, and yes, he’s here at the property helping guests. Thank you.

The phone and TV didn’t work in our first room, but they moved us to a new one quickly. The front desk staff were cheerful and professional. We loved the fresh-baked cookies and lemonade, and the sodas and snack pack included with the Club made us feel special.
