Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Madison by IHG

The room assignment took my preferences into account, which I appreciated even though I’m not especially picky. The woman who checked us in was so nice, though I can’t remember her name, just her pretty red hair. The bed was comfortable, the hotel and pool area were clean and nice, and breakfast was great with extra options I don’t see at many other HIE locations. It’s only a few miles from the downtown riverfront. Everything was great, and I enjoyed our stay.

Housekeeping is what really makes this hotel stand out for me. The rooms feel fresh and welcoming, with beds made just right and bathrooms spotless. The staff’s care goes beyond cleaning and gives the place a home away from home feeling. The hotel consistently provides a reliable, comfortable stay, with excellent service and a real focus on cleanliness and guest comfort. Their work makes each visit enjoyable and stress-free.

Hazel at reception always greets me with a smile and uses my first name. Parth does a great job with breakfast and cleaning the rooms. Thanks so much to both of them!

The sheets on the bed were clean, and the mattress was surprisingly comfortable. The staff were also very friendly. Those were the positives. The rest felt gross. There was brown, matted grime on top of the lounge furniture as soon as I came in, and the elevators were disgusting, with trash still there at both check-in and check-out. My room didn’t look clean either. Maybe I got a bad one, or maybe the people saying the rooms are clean have lower standards. I took a few photos. I can only assume the kitchen is just as nasty, so there’s no chance I’d eat from the breakfast bar. At night I kept thinking about whether there might be bed bugs I’d take home. That’s probably not the case, but when cleaning gets skipped, pest control might too. The parking lot at night is full of semi tractors, construction trucks, and trailers. Maybe the three-star rating is on a curve. I wouldn’t choose this for a business trip or a vacation. I don’t like leaving bad reviews and would rather move on, but I wouldn’t have booked if real reviews and photos had been available. I hope this saves people who care about clean facilities the trouble.
