Holiday Inn Express & Suites Madisonville by IHG

The hotel and rooms were clean, and the service was great. They even went out of their way to help us add another day. Breakfast was the one letdown: the hot items were a little cold and the selection was lacking, though it may have just been a fluke. Everything else was fine, and they seemed to have enough staff.

I was shocked by the incidental charge when I checked in. The room was already $255, but because I live just inside their 70-mile radius policy, they charged another $250 as an incidental fee. I understand hotels put holds on funds, but almost the price of the room feels unreasonable. The staff were polite, but the charge left a bad impression and made a simple work stay stressful.

This Holiday Inn Express in Madisonville, Kentucky, is convenient for teams playing at the Kentucky Sports Factory, where large volleyball tournaments take place. The rooms are clean and spacious, especially the suites. There’s breakfast and coffee, plus a pool and exercise room.

This is one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff were friendly, and someone would appear at the front desk whenever you got near it. Free breakfast was a nice bonus. Kids loved the pancake machine, though the pancakes were better for their novelty than their texture or flavor. If I’m back in the area and need a room, this will be at the top of my list. Keep up the good work.
