Econo Lodge Inn & Suites

This room is huge. There was a couch on one side and a small desk on the other, then a bedroom area, followed by a roomy space for changing, makeup, and grooming. The bathroom was about a normal size, but the rest of the room felt much bigger than most motel rooms. It looked fairly new and well kept, with fresh-looking walls and bathroom, a large mirror, and carpet that seemed new and clean. I was impressed. Since I'm a car guy, I'd compare it to a fully loaded Taurus next to a Lincoln Continental. It's not the best there is, but it's about as good as you get in this venue. And, again, it's big.

We booked this at the last minute, and my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. The single room had a suite-like feel, with a microwave and refrigerator, plus a separate area with a love seat. The flat-screen TV had all our favorite channels, too. The bathroom was great, and the hotel fit our budget just right.

We couldn't check in when we expected. The sign said check-in was at 2, but after 3:30 we were still waiting, and staff said the previous guest had checked out late. That wasn't our problem. If a room is reserved, it should be ready. We hadn't driven more than 10 hours just to be told to go find something to do for a while. The staff didn't seem knowledgeable.

I booked for Elvis week 2017 back in September 2015, then got a call saying I didn't have a reservation because the franchise was changing. They told me to call back on July 1. Why should I wait that long and have only about a month and a half to find a hotel, if they'll even accept my reservation then? The girl said I might change my mind. I told her she was the one changing hers. I've spent $954 on plane tickets, and I'm not changing my mind. I'm coming to Memphis for Elvis week!
