Americas Best Value Inn Memphis Airport

Save your money. After driving more than 16 hours, we stopped at one of the closest hotels, and it was awful. We got there after midnight and felt stuck staying, but the cigarette smell was strong all through the hotel, even though it’s supposed to be non-smoking. The lobby seating was filthy, and there was a cockroach in our room. We could even hear people in nearby rooms flushing toilets and pulling toilet paper off the roll. The service was horrible, and the place was disgusting.

The two rooms they tried to put me in were maybe 5% clean, and that’s me being generous. With everything going on after COVID, you’d expect them to clean and change the sheets. I’d rather sleep in my car unless they improve by about 95%. The pictures don’t lie.

The staff were nice, and the room had a small microwave, mini fridge, flat-screen TV with decent cable, and okay Wi-Fi. But it was dirty: there were stains on the sheets and sauce packets on the floor, presumably left by the previous guest. The lobby and rooms look pretty decent for Lamar, so it’s a shame about the cleanliness. With fees, we paid $90 a night, which felt like too much for this stay.

I love this place off Lamar in Memphis. The customer service is the best, and housekeeping is great. I left a few things in my room and they returned everything, even my cash. There’s also a washer and dryer on site.
