Comfort Inn near Great Smoky Mountain National Park

The beds were super comfortable, and the price and location worked great for a one-day ski trip. Breakfast was okay, but there’s just one waffle maker and the room was tiny for eating, so don’t expect to walk in and get a waffle right away. We didn’t use the pool or hot tub, though we saw other people swimming.

We were really pleased with the whole stay, and I’m not sure why the reviews are mixed. The rooms were modern and updated, the beds very comfortable, and the staff friendly. The heated pool and spa were a nice bonus with the kids. We’ll definitely come back when we’re in the area.

I paid $130 for a room that wasn’t clean, a closed pool, and a credit I was offered but still haven’t received. I was charged full price. I hate writing such a long, ranting review, but I hope it saves another family with kids from the same experience. I booked one night for a weekend trip with my 3-year-old to ride the Polar Express. The online photos looked nothing like the property. The lobby was separate from the rooms, and its tile floor had something dried and spilled across it. The hallway smelled strongly of weed at 1:30 in the afternoon, despite all the no-smoking signs. By the time we got to our room, I was already disappointed. The heated pool was one reason we chose Comfort Inn over other places nearby, but it was closed. The room seemed okay at first. In the bathroom, the first washcloth was stained, then the second and third had stains in the same spot too. It looked like the spill in the cubby hadn’t been cleaned and the towels hadn’t been changed. I called the front desk, feeling grossed out, and the woman was kind and apologetic. She offered a discount, and although it wasn’t about the money, I appreciated that she tried to help. We went to our event. When we returned, the weed smell was everywhere, including our room. I didn’t bother bringing it up; I just wanted to leave in the morning and felt anxious waiting for that. While we packed, my son brought me a pill. It might have been a vitamin or Percocet, who knows, but it wasn’t ours. There were no-smoking signs all over, yet the behavior seemed to go unchecked by staff. We’re looking forward to coming back in a few months. Suite 236 had a comfortable bed, and the breakfast was always hot and fresh. The hotel and rooms were clean, and the staff were consistently friendly. Maggie Valley is a great location for walking to several shops, restaurants, and attractions. I wish I’d checked the bed’s tag and maker before leaving; I’d love one like it at home.
