The location made it easy to spend the weekend outside, whether hiking or following a wine trail. We stayed in the Indigo cabin in late February, and it felt wonderfully cozy. The soaking tub was a favorite, and we appreciated the thoughtful details, from the natural building materials and linens to the care given to our breakfast dietary needs. We also checked out the boardwalk in Makanda, and dinner at Gianty City Lodge was great.

Paula and James made us feel well looked after, with a friendly, caring, and professional manner. We had a wonderful time at Makanda Inn and enjoyed the area around it. The lodge and rooms blend modern and rustic touches nicely, and Maggie, their adorable pet, kept us entertained. I highly recommend staying here and can’t wait to return!

There’s plenty to enjoy nearby, including hikes, restaurants, wineries, The Makanda Board Walk, two huge forested parks, natural wonders, and friendly people. At the Makanda Inn, the spacious rooms and lodge were very comfortable, and the whole stay felt relaxing. Paula and James were friendly and helpful hosts, and Maggie, The Inn dog, was too. Breakfast was beautifully prepared, delicious, and served with a smile. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Paula and James were great hosts, and breakfast was delicious on both mornings. We had a wonderful, relaxing two-night stay at Makanda Inn. It’s close enough to wineries and Carbondale if you’re looking for things to do.

The nightly fire was a lovely way to wind down and chat, and the new Inn Keepers and Maggie were so welcoming and made the stay a lot of fun. This beautiful, eco-friendly inn is tucked into the woods, with clean, comfortable rooms. Breakfast was fantastic on both days of our stay. 10/10
