The stay was unpleasant, even though I left the hosts a positive Airbnb review and had told them directly about the problems. I booked through Airbnb because I needed to be near an event. There were ants in the kitchen, the bathroom bin still had rubbish from the previous guest, and we had electrical and hot water problems. I asked for an iron and, when it was brought over, was told that “nobody uses irons in Hawaii.” When I asked how to heat the house, the response was to put on more clothes. The host later characterized these requests in their review as “resort-style.” For clarity, I did ask for a discount on the last night, which had been arranged outside the platform. The screenshot attached shows the review the host left for me.
