OYO Malden Airport Inn

On the third day, I came back hoping to relax before my flight and found my room door standing wide open. The front desk said staff had gone into the room and left it that way. They gave no explanation, just said someone else had told them to make sure the doors were closed. They shouldn’t have entered my room. I left early because I felt safer sitting in a car by the side of the road. Even free, this place would have been too much. The room I got wasn’t the one I booked, and it was nasty, with a sticky floor, burn holes in the blankets, a barely working shower, and a toilet that needed its lever held down for about 20 seconds to flush. At check-in, the desk staff also claimed I’d booked two nights instead of three, even though I had three booked. It seemed like hardly anyone else was there.

We still haven’t received our refund after paying for a stay we never properly got, and the whole ordeal was stressful. We spent hours trying to find someone just to check in. At Malden Airport Inn in Malden, MO, nobody answered calls or the bell at the office marked “24/7 open,” and even OYO customer service couldn’t reach anyone. Our reservation was then moved to Hickory Inn in Dexter, MO. The OYO representative said they had personally spoken to the front desk and passed on our booking details and extended checkout charge. But when we arrived, nobody answered or helped us there either, and we were stranded again. The management and customer service at both hotels and OYO were extremely unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend booking unless you’re willing to risk being ignored and losing your money.

We got a great deal for five nights. The hotel was the most affordable nearby, in a quiet part of town and centrally located. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the rooms were tidy, clean, and nice.

I’ve been waiting over an hour and a half to check in. Check-in starts at 3, and it’s now 4:55. I’ve pushed the service call button over and over, but nobody has come to the front desk. After an eight-hour drive, this is not service anyone should have to put up with. I’m going to try to cancel and get a refund for my prebooked room. What a joke.
