I slept better than I had in weeks thanks to the very comfortable bed. The room had a cozy feel with a little touch of luxury, and its private balcony looked out over both the ocean and mountains. Staff made me feel welcome right from arrival, and check-in was effortless. At Malibu Country Inn, I had a perfect 5.0 stay. I took a quiet walk to the nearby beach in the morning, then relaxed by the pool later with a glass of wine. Everything felt peaceful and restorative. I left refreshed and already thinking about another visit.

The room was dusty, with cobwebs, and felt cold. The blinds were broken, making privacy difficult. The pool was slimy, and the outside of the place looked old and disgusting. For $344 a night I expected much better. It feels like Motel 6 quality at Hilton prices, and the 5 star reviews seem fraudulent. The hotel is not actually on the beach as advertised. The steep hill it sits on means you can’t even walk down to the beach. It needs a complete professional renovation. It’s the only hotel in Malibu beach, I guess they think they can get away with it. Don’t get sucked in.

We held our company gathering here, and it all went smoothly. The view was incredible, the food was top-notch, and the rooms were spotless. Big thanks to the staff and management for going above and beyond and making it a memorable night for us.

The location is great, with a short walk to Zuma Beach and Point Dume and good restaurants close by. Management was friendly and accommodating, and they made checking in easy even though I arrived after midnight. A cozy little gem. There aren’t many places like this left in Malibu since Casa Malibu Inn closed.

The room was nice, and the wall shutters opened onto a lovely mountain view. We hadn’t realized we had a patio overlooking the pool, or a view at all, so that was a bonus. It’s a private, fairly quiet place in a great spot close to the beach. We stayed in unit 18 at the end of October, and the heat didn’t work. The wall unit blew cold even when turned all the way to 86, as the woman at the front office advised. After another hour and a half with the temperature dropping outside after dark, I went back. She gave us a blanket and the personal space heater plugged in behind the desk. I appreciated the help, and luckily the heater worked well. If all the units are like this, guests should know rooms may have no heat, or space heaters should be available. Make sure the heat works before the office closes if you’re staying in winter. The shower faucet was hard to turn on and off, and there’s no door on the shower stall, so it’s open to the room and cold when the heat isn’t working. The decorative fireplace in the wall doesn’t work. Parking is precarious, against a wall at the back; when it’s full, you have to back out because the space is only wide enough for one-way traffic.
