The floors in the place we ended up staying were really dirty, as you can see from the photo of my foot. Sorry, not sorry for the picture. We booked through Airbnb, and the place we were originally supposed to get was much nicer than the dumpier, run-down one the “manager” let us into. This is why I think Airbnb’s fees are ridiculous. It’s obvious whoever they use for cleaning didn’t do the job. It was way too close to where we wanted to be. Yeah, no thanks to Airbnb or the unresponsive “owners/managers.”

We were staying in an Airbnb in the village, where the homes all have a cabin feel and can get very cold at night. Hidden Valley is a gem in Mammoth Lakes, close to Mammoth Village, Mary Lake Road, Twin Falls, and plenty of restaurants of all kinds. We’ll definitely come back to town!

Vacasa was the company I rented through, and that was a mistake. I left a bag of clothes in the condo, and Vacasa staff stole the items. I never got them back. I would never rent through Vacasa again.

One night, loud music from the next condo went on past 1:30 a.m. I told Jared, the condo manager, and he said I should go talk to the person myself instead of handling it. The facilities were also neglected: in September the pool was closed for the season even though temperatures were in the 80s. One jacuzzi stayed closed all week with a maintenance sign, but nobody worked on it. The other had broken jets that blew dirt and material into the water. The site manager knew about these problems and made no effort to resolve them.

The place was cozy and had everything we needed, with a convenient location just a block from the lifts and gondolas. I’d have given it five stars if the TVs weren’t so outdated. They need replacing.
