Fred's is close by, and the location worked great for Cajun music and other local places. Hotel Cazan has a quirky, charming feel with lots of personality, more like a cozy boutique hotel than a chain. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the whole place felt carefully looked after. Valerie and the team were warm and helpful, made check-in easy, and made us feel at home. I’d absolutely stay again and would recommend it for small-town hospitality.

For a building of its age, the outside is in excellent shape. This historic four-to-six-room hotel was built in 1900 and is still open and functioning. It also has a sub sandwich shop and an ice cream shop inside.

Room 13 had such a comfortable bed that I slept right through it, even if a ghost tried to bother me. Ms. Valerie made sure I had everything I needed, and the room was cozy. The hotel is full of art and interesting artifacts, so it was fun looking around. Fred’s Lounge is right across the street, and there’s a bakery a few doors down with great cheesecake. Ms. Valerie provided the best hospitality I’ve experienced, even after more than 15 years working in hospitality. I highly recommend Hotel Cazan. Go see Ms. Valerie, you won’t be disappointed!

My first overnight stay was last weekend, though I’d rented a space here before. We stayed in the ship room, which was cozy and comfortable, and the ladies made sure we were comfortable and treated us with great hospitality. There are several local shops, bars, and eateries nearby. On Saturday we started with early morning Cajun music at the World Famous Fred’s, went to Washington Antique School mall, and finished with live Cajun music at The Barn at Lakeview.

Mamou and Hotel Cazan make a lovely spot for a quiet getaway. Everything you need is right there, and the southern hospitality was five star with a little extra. The charming, quaint hotel felt like staying in a museum. Highly recommend.
