The staff were attentive, and the restaurant chef did a nice job with the meals and the banquet. I also liked the gym, the updated common areas, and how comfortable the temperature was in the ballroom/conference room, which can be hard to get right in a space that big. The ballroom itself is dated, though, and its AV needs to be more reliable. My room had a balcony that was a lovely spot at the end of the day or first thing in the morning, with beautiful views all around. Unfortunately, the broken curtain shade kept me from enjoying the best view from the room. The furniture was pretty worn, with plenty of repairs on corners and ends, and the drawers in the TV stand and bedside table wouldn't stay shut. The rooms and much of the resort feel dated. There was a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker, but no decaf coffee. At least there were lots of towels. I also found a dirty Q-tip under the bathroom sink, which was off-putting.

It's a peaceful area, with nature and beautiful scenery all around. Shanty Creek has lovely views, and you can hop onto one of the five courses for a good time.

My skis were stolen while I went inside for a quick break after skiing. The employees didn't help, and with only two hours of ski time left, they wouldn't offer any kind of rental discount either. It was a bad experience, and the place felt a bit nasty.

On weekdays, you can often finish a run and ski straight back onto the lift. Four of the five lifts end at the same peak, which makes it easy for a group with different interests to meet up. The red lift serves a separate area. Its runs are shorter, but the wooded and glade trails still offer plenty of challenge. That lift closes early because its area isn't lit for night skiing. Schuss has a good variety of interesting runs.

I called after the round to ask for the manager, but they were apparently busy, so I left my name and phone number. No one ever called me back, and I won't return to this course. I'll do my best to make sure other people don't go either. We played on September 27th at around 10am, and the golf course starter was the biggest jerk I've ever encountered on a course. His treatment of us was so unbelievable that at first we thought he was joking. We tried several times to calm things down and be friendly, but he stayed condescending well past the point of insulting.
