Manistee Inn & Marina

The boardwalk by the Manistee River was beautiful. You can walk beside the river, which was frozen and calm when I was there. Vending machines and an ice machine are available, and there are restaurants within walking distance. The Vogue movie theater across the street had some good movie choices. The Manistee Inn & marina was clean inside and out, and DEANNA Marsh, the property manager, was the sweetest, nicest woman. The beds were soft, with fluffy pillows. My refrigerator kept my food and drinks ice cold. There was a desk with a bright lamp, a comfortable chair, and a coffee pot with fresh coffee packs, sugar, and tea. The heat and air worked well. Breakfast was Nature Valley granola bars, including a peanut butter one I liked, and there was a big range of coffee flavors and creamers. I don’t usually eat much breakfast.

I got in at 7 pm on a Saturday and found an envelope with my name and room key on the desk. There are a couple of good restaurants, a bar, and a theater within a thousand feet. It’s a quaint little hidden gem. Parking isn’t ideal, but it looks like they’re doing work on the lot, so I assume that’s temporary.

Right downtown beside the river, this is a dandy little place with very friendly staff. I liked that they had a regular coffee pot instead of one that makes you brew each cup separately. Great value, give it a try.

My room didn’t have a scenic view, but the location was perfect. There’s a nice little trail and boardwalk right behind the place by the river, plus plenty of places to eat and drink along the main road. Well worth staying here if you’re in the area.
