The attached bar and grill was well run and a nice extra, though the conference area looks a bit dated and is still nice enough. I was there for a conference and booked one night. My room was about 600 square feet, with a pullout couch I didn’t need, and a comfortable king bed. It was clean and priced about right. I’d call it a solid four-plus-star stay, though not seven-star. I heard what I’m fairly sure were guests talking nearby until 1:30 a.m. If you’re a light sleeper, bring a headset or noise-canceling earbuds.

We were only there overnight. The staff were friendly, and breakfast had the usual hotel selection. They also let us check out 30 minutes late, so we could leave our electronics in the room instead of in our vehicle in the extreme cold while we went to an event in town.

A winter storm canceled all flights, so we couldn’t get there and tried to change our non-refundable reservation. The hotel representative didn’t seem to care. I called Choice corporate, and they were kind and understanding and contacted the hotel for me. After I was put on hold, they said the hotel representative had argued with them too, then hung up. Losing $800 to the weather is a shame. I’ve changed non-refundable reservations many times with IHG or Hilton. It’s not only about the money, the service desk response was shockingly cold.

The hotel is dated, but it was a nice stay overall, and having a restaurant attached is convenient. Everyone I dealt with was friendly, and my room was decent and clean. The coffee pots definitely need replacing. I really liked that there’s a button to keep the room fan running constantly, a big plus for me.

We ended up in Makato for a medical visit on 12/28, and my husband booked this hotel when we needed to stay an extra day. The front desk woman seemed annoyed we were there, though she got us checked in quickly. We were first put in room 300. After my son showered, we noticed the fan sounded wrong, then it got so loud it felt like being on the edge of a war zone. At 8 p.m. we moved next door to 302, where we were a little farther from the noise. The rooms have yellow, brown, and orange colors that felt straight out of The Shining. There were lots of outlets, but the phones were so old and their cords so frayed that they didn’t work. The beds felt like they were from the Flintstones Era. The hotel is old and hasn’t been updated at all, and our view was of ductwork. Last time I choose a Choice Hotel. Hotel after we switched and on checkout in pics.
