Lake Shore Motel

The rooms are filthy and smell moldy, and the furniture is badly beat up. There are holes in the walls, too. Near the RV area, there’s a serious gas leak they haven’t fixed. I’ll be reporting them. This place feels very unsafe.

I was here about 40 years ago while working for the phone company, and it was nice then. Contractors working in Yale had the best room here. I’m glad the place is still around. It must be doing something right to have lasted this long. After long days in 100-degree heat, the AC was nice and cold.

We live in our RV behind the motel, and it feels like home. It’s quiet, people get along, and there’s a real sense of community where we look out for one another. The RV park is basic but nice. A short walk takes you to the water, and the strip of forest behind the park is good for walks. I’ve seen bald eagles overhead and other wildlife in the trees. The lake is only a three-minute walk away, and there’s almost your own private beach. The motel itself is old, but it’s always clean, the room things work, and we’ve never seen bugs. For an old motel in a small Oklahoma town, it is what it is: a clean place to spend the night with a comfy bed. We’re glad it’s here.

It seemed clean, but I woke up at 11 p.m. being eaten alive by a bed bug infestation. They don’t check the beds. When I told the owner, he said I had to report it to him, as if it was my fault. I won’t give him my money again.
