Relax Inn

The hotel’s older but well kept, and the smell brought back nostalgic memories of my grandma’s house. The staff are friendly, though asking for towels or sheets at night doesn’t go over well. Sometimes ringing the service bell means waiting more than five minutes for someone to come to the door. There’s construction somewhere nearby, and the big trucks make quite a racket outside, but you can’t hear them from inside.

The staff were excellent and accommodating with our service dog, especially since we couldn’t find anywhere else in the area that was. The hotel’s older, but it’s clean, nice, and quiet, and the bathroom was particularly spotless. There’s no restaurant on site, though there are places next door. We froze all night because the room AC couldn’t be controlled and the bedding was thin.

The price was great, and I found the room surprisingly clean for the location and general vibe. The bed was really cozy, which matters most to me in an unfamiliar place, and the clerk was very nice. Still, the area and building atmosphere were awful: people hanging around nearby, giving dirty looks, and talking loudly and angrily. Before bed I took everything valuable out of my truck, even though the clerk assured me they don’t have trouble with vehicles or anything like that. It wouldn’t be my first choice, but I’d stay if I had to.

We left less than two hours after arriving and went back home to sleep in the dark and cold. Our power was out during a freeze, and this was one of the few places with availability, but anything would have felt better. This place is going to haunt me for a while. The smell was so strong it stayed on my clothes the next day. Floors throughout the building were so uneven that the TV stand sat at an angle. A three-inch gap under the room door let in hallway light and every sound. There was no thermostat in the room, so I guess the whole building runs on one unit. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s asbestos, and I don’t think this place should pass inspection. Save yourself the trouble and don’t stay here!
