Best Western Plus Desoto Inn & Suites

The second floor smelled horrible, and the rooms need serious investment. I stayed in room 220, where the bathroom floor and door have apparently been messed up for years. The lobby is the only part that looks decent. This hotel used to be the best, but with the prices they charge, you’d expect better rooms. Not a good experience. Do better, Best Western.

The beds were VERY comfortable, and all of us slept well. We’d stayed here several years ago, and felt confident booking again while visiting family for a couple of days. Our first room’s bathroom door wouldn’t close all the way, but they quickly moved us when I asked. We also needed extra towels for our family of four, and that was sorted out quickly. The check-in staff were friendly enough, parking was good, and the continental breakfast was mediocre even by continental breakfast standards. It’s an okay hotel. We’ve stayed in worse.

I found bed bugs in my room, and they refused to move me to another one. That’s unacceptable. I’d tell anyone not to stay here, and I’d give negative stars if I could. I also attached a photo of the bug after killing it.

The neighborhood was my main concern. It felt a little sketchy, and there are signs all over the parking lot telling guests to remove valuables from their cars. That warning by itself isn’t unusual, but the area had a certain vibe. The hotel itself was okay, about what I’d expect from a Best Western, though the staff seemed a bit lackluster.
