Best Western Mansfield/Bellville

The staff were excellent, and the place was very clean and tidy. Maintenance and room cleaning need attention, though. Our room hadn’t been cleaned from the previous day’s reservation when we arrived at 1:15am, so we were moved to another one. That room had recently been smoked in, and we ended up moving to a third. Neither the front nor rear door would open with our room keys, so we had to block them open to bring our things in and out. With those issues fixed, this could have been five stars across the board.

We felt this was the worst hotel stay we’ve ever had, and it certainly didn’t feel like a "best western." The staff were unfriendly from check-in through checkout. Lights didn’t work, the microwave was broken, and the bathtub and carpet were dirty. We found old food wrappers, and when we pulled back the bedding to check for bed bugs, a water bug was crawling on the mattress. Thankfully, there were no bed bugs. After we got back from the wedding and saw the room’s condition, we called the front desk to ask about leaving. The response was basically, sorry, too bad. Do NOT stay here.

Compared with the Best Western where I work, this place is half the size and way less fancy or up to date, so it’s hard to compare. Still, I had a really good stay. It was quiet, lowkey, and easygoing. Julia was kind and helpful, and she has the vibe of a professional ping pong player. I honestly think she could become one of the best we’ve seen in quite some time if she puts her mind to it.

We spent a whole week here while waiting to move into our new home, so I got a good look at how things run. The rooms were fresh and smelled great, and the first thing I noticed on arrival was how clean everything was. The staff were freaking amazing, easily the best I’ve come across in Ohio. Give this place a chance to wow you. Sending good energy your way.
