Staybridge Suites MPLS-Maple Grove/Arbor Lakes by IHG

The courtyard was lovely, with lots of beautiful trees, and I had a pleasant stay of almost a week. Service was polite and generous; whenever I asked for something, they brought it right away. The rooms were clean and nice, and the beds comfortable. The small kitchenette had crockery and dishes, which made cooking simple. Breakfast was excellent, and coffee and fruit juice were available all day.

The rooms and people were great, but the washer and dryer need fixing or replacing. I started a load six hours before my flight, and it still wasn’t dry.

The hallways were very dirty and smelled bad, and the walls are paper thin. The showers drained extremely slowly in both of our rooms. There were no guest ice machines on the floors, and the refrigerator’s city water wasn’t appealing. The pool had no towels, and the changing table in the pool bathroom was broken and had poop on it. It also seemed like people were living there. My kids may have gotten a contact buzz from how much weed was being smoked. They tried some upgrades but missed the mark. This hotel needs to be redone, and we won’t stay again.

The room was clean and quiet, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. I didn’t like the room layout, especially the bathroom, but it wasn’t a big deal. We didn’t get to try the amenities, including breakfast, the evening social, pool, or fitness room. I did notice storage units, which seem like a nice addition for a long-term stay hotel. Getting around inside was confusing because the layout is maze-like, especially finding the elevators from the lobby, and better signs would help. The hallway smells were odd and left a bad impression. The night light by the bathroom sink was right next to the bed and kept me awake until my partner figured out how to turn it off. One thing upset us: men, I assume from housekeeping, kept knocking over an hour before checkout even though we called out that we were still in the room and had the sign up. They stayed outside talking loudly in another language for a long time, which was very annoying.
