Emerald Inn

We picked this place because it was close to the hospital where I had an outpatient procedure. That location worked for us, but the room had several problems: only two towel sets for our two queen beds, a broken toilet paper holder, no hair dryer, and lamps that were broken and outdated. There was no coffee in the room or lobby, and the sink had no cold water.

The room was cleaned each day, and there was parking, but I had a hard time getting proper rest during my three nights. The king bed was clean and comfortable enough for some people, but it was firm, and the pillows were so flat that I should have left them folded for extra support. The towels were clean but thin and small. The carpeted room didn’t smell of smoke. The bathroom was tiny, just enough space to shut the door without hitting the toilet, and had no ventilation. The AC kept running even when I set it to automatic and chose a temperature. Probably fine for a night or two, but it was tough for me longer than that, especially with a bad back.

This was a work trip, and my company booked the hotel. I had to switch rooms: the first had a blood smear on the wall and cat puke under the table, and the second had a stained bedsheet. There wasn’t a continental breakfast, and the place looked like it was straight out of the seventies. I’m not interested in coming back.

It was -5 and snowing when I arrived, and the heater made the room nice and toasty. The room was super clean, the bed really comfortable, and the staff were great.
