Siesta Motel

When our camping plans fell through, we ended up staying here for a full week. The room was small, but clean, and the AC worked perfectly. The woman who checked us in was friendly and helpful throughout the week. We could use the picnic tables with our camp stove to cook fish we caught, and the room had a microwave and full-size refrigerator. I know some reviews complain about the amenities, room size, and dated look, but I was glad places like the Siesta still exist in the Keys. Resorts are easy to find from Key Largo to Key West, while this motel let us keep the lodging costs very affordable and put more of our budget toward excursions and charters. Per night, it cost less than a sketchy highway off-ramp hotel in Tennessee or the Motel 6 where we'd stayed in northern Florida. It was exactly what we needed, and we felt lucky to find a room without booking ahead.

The Pepto-pink bathroom tile is still there, but the fixtures are quality and there are boutique-hotel-style amenity pump dispensers. The beds and decor have been updated, and more improvements are in the works. It's a 1950s hotel, with no claim to resort-level polish, but the rooms are clean, comfortable, and spacious. Our #7 Large Efficiency had a kitchen that worked well for making sausage, eggs, and pancakes in the morning. The place is family owned and operated, and reasonably priced, with better value than other places in the Keys. It's my new go-to between Miami and Key West. For me, it was perfect, and I'll be back.

Our host and the staff were pleasant, and they'd check in as we passed to see if we needed anything. We stayed in Room A for a week, and it was lovely and had everything we needed. Even during peak season, the price was among the most reasonable options. It was a great first trip to Marathon and the Keys. Much gratitude! 😊

We were in town for diving and sightseeing, so we mainly used the room to clean up, change, have happy hour, and sleep. Saving money on lodging was the goal, and this place worked really well for that. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and friendly staff made the beds and changed the towels daily. The kitchen was lacking, though we could make coffee and easily have happy hour. There's a DD right next door and a great breakfast spot a short walk away. The place is right on the highway, which is both a plus and a drawback. The AC's steady chugging gave enough white noise that I couldn't hear anything else. If you want a resort to spend time at, you may want to stay elsewhere. If you just need a place to sleep, this is a good deal.
