Marco Island Lakeside Inn

I felt taken advantage of, and I can’t remember the last time I felt compelled to leave a bad hotel review on Google or Yelp. I paid $950 for two nights, and I’m not sure why. They weren’t sold out, the parking lot wasn’t full, and it wasn’t peak spring break season yet. The property was clean and well maintained, but far from premium. My room showed a lot of wear, especially in the bathroom, where the ceiling was peeling and there were holes in the wall. The walls were paper thin, and my neighbors woke me each morning. There was no turn-down service either. Nobody took out the trash or made the bed on Saturday. This is a hotel, right? The lakeside view was actually of a pond. The property isn’t on or near a beach. I realize that wasn’t promised, but I’m trying to understand the premium I paid. I’d never been to the Island before and booked in a hurry, thinking this would be at least as good as a Courtyard or Hilton Garden Inn. It wasn’t. If you’re paying $200-300, that’s fair. Don’t pay more than that.

The beds were really comfortable, and there’s a beautiful lake almost right outside the door. The rooms are spacious and have a kitchenette. The walk is nice and short. Great location, and we had a wonderful stay!

We had a good stay overall. The place was clean, the staff friendly, and the location was great. The walls are pretty thin, which may be why the property has a strict noise curfew. We were fine with that, and it was New Year’s Eve, so that’s worth keeping in mind. I wasn’t a fan of the glass entry door opening straight into the living room. Some tinting could easily give it more privacy. The bed was noisy and not very comfortable, too. If your significant other is a light sleeper, be ready to stay still or risk waking them.

I’m pretty picky, but was pleasantly surprised by how nice our room was when we got there. The front desk staff were kind and helpful. It felt like a one-bedroom apartment, was VERY CLEAN, and had everything we needed. If we’d forgotten something, the office had it. The room even smelled clean. The pool was clean, too, and the whole stay was a 10. I’ll definitely return when I’m back in the area.
